In theory it would have been a good idea to interweave two stories about the same person - one about the real personality of Hitler and one about how it could all have turned out if only Hitler had been accepted at the art school and become a famous painter. In my opinion, however, whereas the "real" Hitler is really well characterised and the true personality seems to pop out, the "good" Hitler is just overdone, I think. He becomes a famous painter, is open-minded and has no prejudices at all,Great idea ... what would have happened if Adolf Hitler had been accepted @ Vienne's art university ?What if he had grown up with culture and diversity ? All along the book the real story and the possible one are side by side going on until 1943 and longer ...REALLY GREAT !!!!
Just finished the last fifty or so pages of this book. It took me a little while to finish this but it was all due to lack of time or fatigue, it had nothing to do with the book itself. I found it very interesting to read about the man that was Hitler and realize that he was in fact really crazy. He seemed to really believe in what he was doing. I don't know how to describe it but he was quite different from what I imagined. Also his relationship with Eva Braun is show in a totally different
Turns out I really don't care about Hitler either way.

I think the premise of this book is very thought-provoking and such an interesting concept. Hitler and the Third Reich are thoroughly discussed in German schools: History, German, English, Geography, Art you name it. However, Hitlers motivation is something that none of our teachers ever went into. One of the reasons for that might be that many things are unclear today and there are different theories for everything. This book explores one of many theories that might have led to Hitler being
Interesting book exploring a big "what if..." : what if Adolph Hitler had successfully passed the art academy entrance exam ?You have to stay focused reading this while each chapter alternately tells the life of one Adolph Hitler who succeeded or or one Adolph who failed the exam.
