This book was not what I expected. I had watched the tv show before and expected the book to be the same as the movie, but what I read was a treat that the show never explains and the book answered so many questions. If I were to use this book as a learning tool in school I would recommend this book to middle schoolers and high schoolers. It was a delightful read.I regret not getting into this series when I was younger.
I'm so glad it's over. It gave me a headache. Obviously not my favorite.

This book,It Had to Be You, is the prequel to the Gossip Girl book series and television series. My opinion has always been that the books are almost always better than the movie/television show, and this is no exception. I adore the Gossip Girl television series, and had always wanted to read the books because the books always give more detail and explanation of emotions. I've always loved the idea of a prequel. Over my spring break, I read it had to be you by Cecily Von Ziegesar and I really liked it. I decided to read this book because I am in love with the tv show that was inspired from this book series. I discovered this book because after re-watching the show again for the eighth time, I saw words that popped on the screen that said, inspired from the gossip girl novel by Cecily Von Ziegesar. Annnd I'm finally done. Not going to read anymore of the series. Nothing happens, I don't care about high school drama, and half the book is brand names.
