Commentary Concering Books Finding Home

'Finding Home' is a brilliant debut novel, written well with gripping characters and a unique and individual premise and mythology. We are submerged into the world of evil, devils and horror in such a clever way, it was definitely unique for a Young Adult book yet felt so much more than that. The novel tells the story of 18 year old Julie Emerson who instantly feels emotionally attached to Trucker Castleman. She keeps seeing him around school until one day she decides to take the plunge and go out with him, they both start to fall in love but as we all know, in paranormal books, love = disaster misfortunes. Julie Emerson was a very irritating and frustrating character, fair enough to her, she has a lot of troubles in her life but OH MY, I just did not like her! “Are you sure [you want to go out with my friends and I]?” Julie asked. He nodded. Trucker seemed oblivious, lost in thought. “If you’re ashamed of me. I understand. I’ll just tell them I was joking.” Julie whispered, fighting back tears. Why else would he have become unglued, if not because he didn't want to be seen in public with her." Um? NO. On the other hand, Trucker was such an interesting character to read about, he had so much depth to him and as the story went on we just kept unravelling each layer of Trucker and finding more to him. I absolutely adored Trucker's mum and sister and loved every scene they had together. I think it's fair for me to say, as Julie was falling in love with Trucker, I also was falling in love with him. “Yeah, Trucker, do you need something?” “Yeah, you. Why do you ask?” The suspense in this story was held very well until the perfect time, I genuinely thought it was going to be about vampires, not devils, and the way J.W. explains all supernatural creatures from just these devils was very clever. I also really loved J.W's use of song lyrics in this book, there is a particular scene where Julie listens to a song and J.W. writes it as such the lyrics explain her feelings. “I love plaid, they take two colours that don’t belong together and turn it into a beautiful pattern.” All in all, a great book, so different from your run-of-the-mill Young Adult book with a crazy premise and beautiful mythology. Can't wait to read more of J.W. Phillip's gripping writing! *Thanks to the lovely author who sent me a free copy in exchange of a review!*

Critique Out Of Books Finding Home
Julie Emison never believed in demons, ghouls, or things that go bump in the night. Trucker Castleman never believed in love. Imagine their surprise when they discovered each other. I know this book has a lot of faults. Many things could have been written better bu i just really liked it. The story was unique and enjoyable. The characters were really likeable and to tell you the truth i just loved Trucker! He had the best, sweetest lines. "Happy New Year, my love." He whispered and with one

I love to read and read two or three books a week. But with this book I could not stop thinking about it. I read it so much that my hubby was jealous saying I was more obsessed over Trucker Castleman than him. I truly could not put the book down.I love how J.W. described all the characters, especially Trucker and all of 'his' kind. She left me guessing the first part of the book, is he this or this. I also love how she expressed in great detail every emotion Julie felt. When she hurt you hurt

2.5 This book had an interesting premise, but that is as far as it got for me. I liked the unique explanation of paranormal beings/creatures, but the character development left a lot to be desired. The back and forth between young angelic Julie and Trucker left me wanting to brush my teeth. Many feelings were professed, but I didn't feel any of them. I don't want to completely slam this book, but there were some serious editing issues. I have to rate this book honestly or I will be doing a

This was a very good read. I have found more and more YA reads that I am loving and this was one. I pulled for Trucker and Julie the whole time. Love is a powerful thing, more powerful then evil and they proved it. Even as hard as nasty Emily and Larry tried they could not keep love from making Trucker good. I was sad to see it end thought and hoped to read more of their lives.

If you don't have anything nice to say....

no longer writing

It was a great read...review to come...I have questions though damn that ending.
