Little Pilgrim's Progress: From John Bunyan's Classic
Progress and simplified the vocabulary and concepts for young readers, while
keeping the storyline intact. The result was a classic in itself, which has now
sold over 600,000 copies. It's both a simple adventure story and a profound allegory
of the Christian journey through life, a delightful read with a message kids ages
6 to 12 can understand and remember. A new look and fresh illustrations for today's
children enlivens the journey to the Celestial City.
Read this aloud to our girls and they gave first half of the book (about Christian) 4 and 5 stars and they gave the second half (about Christiana) 3 and 4 stars. I found many of the analogies wonderful and cried more than once, but some parts of the book definitely dragged for me. Overall, very glad I read it and that we now have the shared experience of it.
A babysitter read this with me at night when I was about 12, and I have been looking for a copy ever since. This simple religous allegory is a story of overcoming life's obstacles through faith, perseverance, and fellowship. Great for anyone with a belief in good, even if not quite in God.
Excellent way to make Pilgrim's Progress accessible to the young or to those who are needing the milk of the gospel and not the heaviest meatiest parts. It still has deep doctrine, but it's 'milked down' shall we say. Easier to grasp, I suppose.
When I told my son we needed to give this book a score out of five he said "Can we give it a five and a half, because it was sooooo good!" So from the mouth of a six year old and his older dad, this book is great led to some great conversations about faith and our walk with the Lord!! Highest recommendation!!!!Read a second time in 2020 with my whole family. Five year old and eight year old loved it!
An inspring book. It was re-written from the original Pilgrim's Progress to be understandable and relevant for children. Well, I got a lot out of it too. This is set up in short chapters so that when I get some grandchildren it can be read to them at bedtime, a little each night. Recommend this to everyone- even if you're not a child. I found it very good and it reinforced my Christian values.

I wanted to read this book because one of my foster kiddos really loved it, and I wanted to see why she was so enamored with it. As a Christian I really enjoyed it, it was rich in a beautiful 'word pictures' about our journey with Christ. It was easy for me to understand these analogies because of my life as a Christian, however I question whether or not young children, or non-Christians, would understand them. This is why I only gave it 3 stars.Read this aloud to our girls and they gave first half of the book (about Christian) 4 and 5 stars and they gave the second half (about Christiana) 3 and 4 stars.
