Interpretation As Books Ricochet
From the bestselling author of Hello, Darkness and Smash Cut comes another steamy thriller of murder, love, and betrayal featuring a Savannah homicide detective fighting attraction in the heat of the South. When Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher is summoned to the home of Judge Cato Laird in the middle of the night to investigate a fatal shooting, he knows discretion and kid-glove treatment will be key to staying in the judge’s good graces and keeping his job.
It’s an open-and-shut case: Elise, the judge’s beautiful trophy wife, interrupted a burglary and killed the intruder in self-defense. Yet Duncan is suspicious of the beautiful woman’s story of innocence and his gut tells him her account of the shooting is only partially true.
Determined to learn the dead man’s connection to the Lairds, Duncan investigates further but soon finds his career, and integrity, in jeopardy. Despite his suspicions, Duncan is increasingly drawn to Elise―even if she is a married woman, a proven liar, and a murder suspect.
When Elise seeks Duncan out privately, he initially dismisses her incredible allegation as the manipulative lie of a guilty woman. But if she’s telling the truth, then that single fatal gunshot at her home takes on even more sinister significance, possibly involving Duncan’s nemesis, the brutal crime lord Robert Savich.
And then Elise goes missing...

A very good and interesting story. I love how Ms. Brown's stories are complicated and how she resolves the complications! :)So, why only 4 stars? It's because the romantic part of the story seemed rushed. I couldn't feel the connection between Duncan and Elise. I couldn't understand, besides the insta-lust, why Duncan fell in love with Elisa. They didn't have very much contact, they didn't interact enough, he hated her, didn't trust her, suspected her of murder and of being a money-grabbing cold3.5 rounded to 4. The last third of the book was really great! Not so much the first 2/3s. Still an enjoyable read
My love affair continues with yet another fantastic book by Sandra Brown. I will say though for this one it took a little longer for me to lock in to the love but it happened and that is all that is important! :)In Ricochet we are taken to beautiful Savannah, Georgia and Ladys Island, South Carolina. SB writes so descriptively that you can close your eyes for a moment and imagine that you were there. The main characters were awesome. I really enjoyed both Duncan and Elise. The secondary
Full review to come, but I have to just say, Duncan.... Love that man!
Ricochet is a moderately enjoyable thriller (rating it between 2 and 3). The plot's just interesting enough to keep on reading. Theres a mystery in this novel about the major female character, Elise Laird, and about whether her motives are good or not. I found that aspect of the mystery intriguing, but I thought the author took too long in developing it. In my opinion there are too many long passages in the middle of this book where the police characters speculate about who did what, and why.
I picked up this novel at the library, as I was looking for a paperback that could fit in my purse for an upcoming trip. I love mysteries and thrillers, so I thought this might fit the bill. I was wrong. First of all, I should have recognized the author as I had written a one-star review of another one of her books, Friction, but apparently I had forgotten! But I could have written the same review. The characters are one-dimensional. Yet again there is another macho-cop, who operates vigilante
Desire, such as hes never felt before pulsed through him I really enjoyed this one. The last SB book I read was a bit of a letdown so I was a tad wary of starting another one by her. "Do you play?" Love her male characters. Duncan is a cop. Dedicated to the job. Tough, gruff, grouchy. Loved his partner too, Dee Dee would love her to get a HEA. "I dont believe we get to choose who we fall in love with, do you?" As with a lot of suspense/mystery novels, we are better off knowing less about the
